Ever noticed in stem cell differentiation how the changes in their environment and other factors can transform these cells into more specialized cell types? Their atmosphere determines what they become and how they’re shaped. Like these cells, we can be affected by our atmosphere, but we also can shift our atmosphere. Imagine, for a second, being on hold on the phone. Being on hold can shift you and cause you to feel anxious, irritated and impatient. Or you can break out some dance moves and shift the atmosphere yourself. It is our choice!
Think of Apostle Paul and his companion Silas in the prison cell in Acts 16:25-28. They could have allowed their situation to make them sad, depressed, defeated and even angry. They could have allowed their situation to damage their character, their soul and their relationships. They could have said, “I guess that is the way things are” which are words of defeat. But guess what they did?! They shifted their atmosphere! Paul and Silas prayed and worshipped. They stood on the truth that they are victorious through Jesus Christ.
‘A shift in your heart causes a shift in your atmosphere’
– Dr T Richards
To shift your external atmosphere, it begins with a shift in your internal atmosphere. As you move from a positive place, one of prayer, worship and gratitude, it overflows from you and changes things. You can stand in tough situations but not be overcome by it. You can rise above it all.
It is our choice! We can shift our atmosphere and stand against all that come against us, or allow it to move us.
